Planning a trip to India? Here is what you need to try
India is not a destination for everyone. There are a lot of common misconceptions about the country, but some of the bad things they say about it are true. However, there are bad things in every country you go, and that is not a reason to dismiss it as a vacation destination. Why? Because aside from the negative factors, there are a thousand more good things you can come across to, and that will make your entire trip worthwhile.
There are not many places on earth where you can find as many spiritual things as you do in India. Everywhere you go, you come across several temples. Indians worship many gods, and each of them comes with interesting traditions and rituals. For that reason, there are many festivals each year, and if you are lucky to plan your vacation around such an event, you will have an unbelievable experience. Indians are simple people, but when it comes to worshiping their gods, they are experts. The shrines and the rituals alone will give you goosebumps. It does not matter which god you believe in. You cannot stand by and feel nothing when you witness something like that.
I do not know if you have ever been to an ashram, but if you plan on going to India, that is a must. The ones located in the mountains are the most beautiful. The remote locations make everything unique, and you will find some peace and quiet. The monks are lovely people, and getting to know them is a part of the experience. You can just relax or do some yoga in the most stunning locations. The scenery is divine, and chances are you will not wish to leave.
Indians may not be the wealthiest people in the world, but they have a lot to offer. Just so you know, there are plenty of tours you can join in which the guide is justan average person who happens to know the location you are in. You will be able to see the city/village through a local’s eyes. And at the end of the day, you can enjoy a lovely meal with the guide’s family. They may not have much, but they share, and they do it gladly.
While you call it Indian food, the locals call it regular food, and it is the best you will ever have. It is not like the one you buy from western restaurants. The flavors are unbelievable, and even the color looks better. You can try several meals, and some of them are not on the menu in your country of origin. However, make sure that you do not go overboard with the spices and avoid street food. It is not good for you.
These are just a few things you get to enjoy, but India is rich in culture. It is not easy to find excitement there, but there is more than one way to enjoy a vacation. And for your information, getting to India is very simple these days. The citizens of over 150 countries are eligible for an Indian evisa, and if you are from one of those countries, no embassy visit for you. It will take longer to pack than to apply for your visa. Other than that, namaste!
