| detailed description of town and location: | Balatonmáriafürdö ist nach Balatonberény der westlichste Badeort am südlichen Balatonufer, 25 km vom Keszthely entfernt. Große Strandanlage (Hundeverbot) mit einem für das Südufer typischen, sehr flach abfallenden Strand und Kinderspielplatz. Eintritt Strandbad: Erwachsene ca. € 2/Tag, Kinder ca. € 1/Tag, Stand 2009. Nach beiden Seiten des Ortes mehrere kleine Freistrände (ebenfalls Hundeverbot). 5 km außerhalb, in Balatonbereny, der bislang einzige FKK-Strand am Balaton. Sportmöglichkeiten: Segel-, Ruder-, Tretboot und Surfbrettverleih. Fahrradverleih. Reiten, Tennis. 3 Discos, 2 Nachtclubs, Flugplatz (Rundflüge). Gute Ausflugsmöglichkeiten ins nahe Keszthely (siehe Ausschreibung dort), nach Héviz (Heilbad mit Thermalsee), nach Balatonszentgyörgy (bedeutende Festung) und zum Kis-Balaton (kleiner Balaton), dem größten Naturschutzgebiet Ungarns. |
